that girl & slamm

lately i have been really into listening to 'slam poetry'. it is so refreshing and real and i donno but i have been crazy addicted lately, i just can't stop listening..

What is Slam Poetry?

A circus act of hyperbole, a war of words, a magic act of metaphor, a wild ride of wit, wisdom and wonder. Competitive poetry. Raucous, raunchy or raw.

There is a whole bunch out there that is absolutely amazing.. but there is one that i really connected with.. i think it is at least somewhat relate-able for every girl so for all the other girls out there- enjoy...

if you enjoyed this and wanna hear more,
there is a bunch on itunes but also search
'brave new voices' on you-tube and you will
find some amazing stuff..

Here are a few more that i love:

He calls it contemperary photography...

Brian walker is a contemporary digital artist
whose images explore and exploit the realm
between fantasy and reality, recreating scenes
that meld illustration and fashion with an
element of surprise.

Stemming from a passion for illustration to depict his
ideas and concepts of surrealist landscapes and
characters, Walker first began using photography as a
tool to represent these ideas of the impossible within
the believable context of photography.

“I like the visual language of my images
to appear hyper real, as if they could exist
but a second take reveals something amiss
or askew. The perfection of a single detail
or the impossibility between elements is
what I continue to find fascinating.”
"In a time where the line between hyper-realities
and those of our own is becoming finer, the Sydney
artist's work speaks a relative language. The digital
artist is inspired by surreal landscapes, the evolution
of fashion and changing popular culture "

play in traffic.. literally

According to maandagmeubels The best way to win back public space is to use the parking we have as effectively as possible. This project claims to offer the best solution for all citizens; young and old. For kids like to play and to interact during daytime and adults who want to find a parking space to store their car overnight.
I'm not so sure how i feel about this whole concept.. seems a little bit sketchy to me hahaha

Dear Song: you are cute.

I think that possibly, maybe I'm fallin' for you
Yes, there's a chance that I've fallen quite hard over you
I've seen the paths that your eyes wander down
I wanna come to
I think that possibly, maybe I'm fallin' for you

No one understands me quite like you do
Through all of the shadowy corners of me

I never knew just what it was
About this old coffee shop I love so much
All of the while I never knew
I never knew just what it was
About this old coffee shop I love so much
All of the while I never knew

I think that possibly, maybe I'm fallin' for you
Yes, there's a chance that I've fallen quite hard over you
I've seen the waters that make your eyes shine
Now I'm shinin' too
Because, oh because, I've fallen quite hard over you

If I didn't know you, I'd rather not know
If I couldn't have you, I'd rather be alone

I never knew just what it was
About this old coffee shop I love so much
All of the while I never knew
I never knew just what it was
About this old coffee shop I love so much
All of the while I never knew
All of the while
All of the while
It was you

office in a box.

Both the alternative consumer and employees at Earthfirst think this solar powered office-in-a-box from Louis Vuitton is a monstrosity, the "antithesis of sustainability." I think it is rather neat, and expect to find affordable knock-offs on Canal Street next week. It was made for an unknown customer from China and contains everything you’d need to keep you entertained and energised while away on business or stranded on a desert island.

Inside you’ll find a TV, DVD player and coffee maker, the latter powered by a can of petrol. Electronic gadgets are powered by solar panels.

Looking beyond the Louis Vuitton name, transformer furniture and transportable, foldable designs like this make a lot of sense, and had it come from MUJI they would be eating it up.
And compared to what Louis Vuitton made for Karl Lagerfield....
He turned to Louis Vuitton for a custom-made suitcase able to hold up to forty iPods – lord knows why he needs that many.

It’s worth noting that, when a simple Louis Vuitton passport holder costs £155 ($234/€176), the custom-made Lagerfeld trunk would undoubtedly set you back a pretty penny. Yet it comes with what looks suspiciously like a JBL speaker set - which retails for around £50 ($75/€56). Nice mark-up if you can get it....... A custom case to hold forty iPods. build your own fashion

Legos are maybe the world's best toy, what with them allowing kids to build whatever they want to play with that day. So why not bring them into more everyday objects? These sunglasses do just that.

Lego teamed up with French optical company Lynx Optique to create these sweet Lego sunglasses that feature Lego bricks on the sides. In theory, you could build whatever you want on them depending on your mood. Designing your own fashion just like designing your own toys. We need this Lego sensibility in more places.

hot & covered in grease

Surrey Mounties are searching for a robbery suspect who likely suffered burns to his face and neck after a McDonald’s employee threw a litre of hot oil at him through the drive-through window.

The suspect, who approached the window at the restaurant at 96 Avenue and 160 Street on foot just before midnight Thursday morning, was armed with a knife and had his shirt pulled up to cover his face, Surrey RCMP said.

He demanded cash from a female employee and stuck his hand through the window and into the cash drawer while she screamed at him.

A male employee threw the hot oil on to the suspect’s face and he fled by foot with an undisclosed amount of money, leaving some on the ground underneath the window.
