Surrey Mounties are searching for a robbery suspect who likely suffered burns to his face and neck after a McDonald’s employee threw a litre of hot oil at him through the drive-through window. The suspect, who approached the window at the restaurant at 96 Avenue and 160 Street on foot just before midnight Thursday morning, was armed with a knife and had his shirt pulled up to cover his face, Surrey RCMP said.
He demanded cash from a female employee and stuck his hand through the window and into the cash drawer while she screamed at him.
A male employee threw the hot oil on to the suspect’s face and he fled by foot with an undisclosed amount of money, leaving some on the ground underneath the window.
