Fueled by the alphabet

The concept is that this represents a stream of consciousness. The oil is a metaphor for information. The right kind of information can fuel, ignite and feed the human mind, life, and art. The letters that ‘flow’ out may just look like a flow of oil from a distance but on closer inspection form words and sentences, quotes and thoughts that allow the observer the opportunity to look at things from a different point of view,or simply evoke an emotional response. - very deep. i like that!

This Display is present at Free Range 2009 Art & Design Degree Shows in London, Richard J. Evans is a graphic design student at Matthew Boulton College. His work "FUEL" features escaped words and letters.

When I came across Alex Ostrowski’s portfolio I instantly wished I hadn’t. Not because it was bad, because it was life-changingly good and I had so much to do this morning- i was at work after all.

Stephanie Sandstrom’s EPA Dress, currently on view in the San Francisco Exploratorium’s 2nd Skin Exhibition, responds to bad air – and that’s not all, it cleverly creates the wrinkles to prove it! Looking crumpled and tired may no longer be an indicator of a late night out, but rather an intelligent way of interpreting your surroundings as well as detecting lurking health hazards. And if that’s not enough to get you totally charged up, consider the Piezing motion-powered dress that redefines future-forward fashion with femme-bot sex appeal.


Designer Sandstrom has embedded her EPA dress with sensors that are able to intelligently read the surrounding atmosphere and in turn create telling kinks in the fabric’s surface. On days when the air quality is particularly poor, the EPA dress looks as if it has been pulled out of the laundry bin or from the back of one’s closet. It’s a scary prospect to think that our clothes might take on a texture of their own, but if this is a viable way for us to see our true selves or rather the state of our environment, well then, we are all for it!.

Catch Of The Day campaign

The American association for the protection of oceans & beaches has partnered with "Surfrider Foundation" as well as communications agency Satch Satch & LA to launch a guerrilla marketing campaign called "Catch of the Day " ...
Packaged in real packaging, waste collected at beaches across the Atlantic have been placed in supermarket shelves to increase consumer awareness to the problems related to increased waste and irreversible harm they could cause on our fresh food such that fish living in this environment.

On the label you will be able to find the type litter and the amount recovered. This high-impact campaign that has managed to generate the expected shock! Hoping that it would result in eco-responsible actions in the future!

mad props boys and girls! this is a totally awesome way to increase awareness!

Happy Clouds

Yesterday, Stuart Semple released 2057 pink smiley faced clouds in London. He wanted to cheer up the people. They were made of helium, biodegradable soap and vegetable dye. After 30 minutes they dissolved in the air. Excellent idea and execution!

Do schools kill creativity?

today in class, we were shown a video, & it seemed to really touch me. I have always been the artsy, creative kid.. The one who hated math and social, and only liked English because of the creative writing portion.. and when i got my report cards the highest marks were always art and drama, and comments for all the other classes were, " has troubles staying on task" or "has trouble containing all her thoughts" and for the first time, professional Sir Ken Robinson puts exactly how i've always felt, into words, and has a very interesting, entertaining way of doing it! - For all you other creative kids out there i hope you enjoy it as much as i did!..

i realise its 20 minutes long, but its not one of those things that at the end you think ' ill never get those minutes of my life back' i promise..so watch it! <3

Dynamic Architecture

Visionary architect Dr. David Fisher is the creator of the revolutionary Dynamic Tower, the world's first building in motion. This Tower is being built in Dubai, and later in Moscow. Construction is scheduled to be completed in early 2010.

Rotating tower is going to:

• have 80 floors,
• be 420 meters (1,380 feet) tall,
• Have apartments ranging from 1,330 square feet, to Villas of 12,900 square feet
• be complete with a parking space inside the apartment.
• bottom 20 floors will be offices,
• floors 21 to 35 will be a luxury hotel,
• floor 36 through 70 will be residential apartments,
• & the top 10 floors will be luxury villas located in a prime location

would you of stopped?

A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold, December morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that thousands of people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

Three minutes went by and a middle aged man noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried up to meet his schedule. A minute later, the violinist received his first dollar tip: a woman threw the money in the till and without stopping continued to walk.

A few minutes later, someone leaned against the wall to listen to him, but the man looked at his watch and started to walk again. Clearly he was late for work.The one who paid the most attention was a 3 year old boy. His mother tagged him along, hurried but the kid stopped to look at the violinist. Finally the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk turning his head all the time. This action was repeated by several other children. All the parents, without exception, forced them to move on.

In the 45 minutes the musician played, only 6 people stopped and stayed for a while. About 20 gave him money but continued to walk their normal pace. He collected $32. When he finished playing and silence took over, no one noticed it. No one applauded, nor was there any recognition.

No one knew this but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the best musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written with a violin worth 3.5 million dollars. Two days before his playing in the subway, Joshua Bell sold out at a theater in Boston and the seats average $100 each.


If noone took the time to stop and notice this, what else in our lives are we letting pass us by?

a much needed inspiring moment..

today while i was out for lunch with a good friend, we noticed the cutest pair of old men playing board games at their table.. such cute innocent fun.. somewhat creepy that i took a picture.. but i did it just for you! and it put a big smile on our faces! so hopefully it puts one on yours too! =D





i hope i have a few good lifelong friends that i can count on to play board games with at subway!
